A Teaching Venture Capital Fund, Where HBCUvc Fellows Invest In Startups

From 2020 - 2022, HBCUvc hosted our Lab Fund program. The program operated as a teaching venture capital fund, where HBCUvc Fellows sourced startups to receive funding. The program allowed our VC Fellows to gain experience in sourcing, due diligence, writing investment memos, and portfolio support. As core to our mission, Fellows selected early stage entrepreneurs from historically excluded communities. Founders who were selected by our Fellows to participate in the Lab Fund received non-dilutive funding, training, and a peer-based learning opportunities. Programming was made possible due to funding from Google For Startups and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.

The Lab Fund program is currently on hiatus as we refine programming and seek new program partners.
